Every Friday (Unless Life Has Other Plans)

My plan is to publish a new post every Friday here on Qialance. But sometimes life gets in the way. This week it’s a cold.

I recently wrote about Tai Chi with back pain. For me, pain and practice can go together. But it’s different with a cold. My body asks for rest, so that’s what I do. If you wonder if it’s ok to practise Taijiquan with a cold? That’s a topic for a future post, when I feel better.

Lying in bed, I scroll a lot more than usual. I don’t have Instagram on my phone, but Reddit found its way in. But I deleted the app. I’d rather just sleep. (If you’re curious how I usually deal with this, I wrote about Taijiquan vs. doomscrolling.)

I’m in the luxurious position of being able to take my time to heal. Sure, my family still needs me. But everything is a bit slower when I’m sick, and that’s ok too. Living slow is something I believe in anyway.

I like to listen to audio meditations on Insight Timer. One of them is actually my own audio with health affirmations on Insight Timer.

And I know I’ll restart when I feel better. I’ve done it before, and I can do it again. (Here’s how I restart my Tai Chi practice after a break.)

How about you? Do you practise when you’re sick, or do you rest?

Happy Qi!
